  • Enterprise Agreements (EAs) are negotiated agreements that set out working conditions, including pay, for employees.

The conditions are documented in a formal agreement, and outlined in plain English, which is then approved by the Commissioner of the South Australian Employment Tribunal (SAET) and published on their website.

The agreements are reviewed and negotiated on a regular basis, typically every three or four years.

As an employee, when you receive a pay increase, or certain conditions such as parental leave, it is because these details are set down in your Enterprise Agreement, which was negotiated on your behalf by your union and your employer.

And if you have a dispute with your employer—if there are conditions or pay you are entitled to which you haven’t received—we refer to the Enterprise Agreement and bring that to the attention of your employer, and if necessary the South Australian Employment Tribunal.

So the Enterprise Agreement is an essential document for all SA public sector workers.

  • Enterprise bargaining (EB) is the formal process of meeting with the government to review and negotiate the overarching enterprise agreement, which tends to happen every 3–4 years. Because of this continuous process, and the work of your representatives at the PSA, wages and conditions can improve over time.

  • The enterprise agreement that outlines pay and conditions for most public sector workers is called the

  • Over a campaign of many months, General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary Charlotte Watson and Celia Brougham spoke to members across the state, at dozens of workplaces about pay, work, conditions and the work of the PSA. Following this extensive consultation throughout the election process, they were elected with a mandate to make change and fight for a pay increase for the SA public service.

Throughout the Enterprise Bargaining process, Charlotte and Celia are reaching out to thousands of members to seek their views, at face-to-face sessions, via our email newsletter and Facebook posts, and through a ballot on the agreement.
