The ballot to vote on the proposed Salaried Enterprise Agreement

Since the election of the union's new leadership, a significant amount of work has gone into securing this Enterprise Bargaining (EB) outcome. PSA members have been empowered, brave, and united, turning out in huge numbers at rallies and taking part in industrial action that many have rightly been described as historic. This is something every member should be proud of.

The EB offer you will shortly receive delivers real gains. It includes improved wages and conditions, strengthened review clauses and allowances, and a much-needed uplift for lower-paid workers. Importantly, it ensures workers will never again fall below the award. It also secures back pay of around six months, which did not occur in the last agreement and protecting this is a significant win, as is locking in an 18-month agreement.

The 18-month agreement is critical. It means members will no longer be bargaining in the same cycle as other cohorts and we hope this puts us in a stronger position going into the next round of bargaining.

Previously, bargaining was scheduled to commence just three months before the agreement expired. The PSA has successfully changed this. The next round of bargaining will now begin 12 months prior to expiry. This means bargaining for the next EB will start in less than six months. This outcome greatly improves our ability to secure an agreement on time, rather than facing the long delays members have experienced in the past.

The PSA is committed to ensuring bargaining representatives from worksites across the sector are actively involved in negotiations in the next round. We strongly encourage members to consider stepping up. We want members to get involved, help build a strong log of claims and come to bargaining meetings for the next EB.

We can assure members that the commitment to back pay has been secured from 1 August 2025. If the agreement is voted up, this date will not change. It is also important to note that there was no requirement for back pay prior to this agreement. Securing it represents a significant additional gain and compounds the overall value of the wage increase.
